Arthroscopy of the ankle

Arthroscopy of the ankle joint

Pain in the ankle joint can have a variety of causes. For gentle treatment of ankle pain, our experts recommend arthroscopy. Gentle treatment using keyhole techniques can eliminate the causes of ankle pain, diseases of the mucosa, free joint bodies, cartilage damage, protruding bone edges, impingement syndrome and instabilities or injuries to the ligaments in a minimally invasive manner, i.e. surgically with small incisions.

During arthroscopy of the ankle joint, two small skin incisions are normally made above the joint line of the ankle joint. Additional accesses are partly necessary at the back or also supplementary at the front.

The first incision is used to view the damage to the ankle joint with the aid of a camera and a light system. The second incision is then used to introduce the necessary surgical instruments. Gentle access via the small incisions results in less soft tissue damage. Less ankle pain after the operation is the result.

Timely treatment with arthroscopy of the ankle joint can prevent protracted diseases of the ankle joint and avoid permanent limitations. Especially the triggers and causes of arthrosis of the ankle joint can be remedied in time before the ankle joint becomes stiff and immobile due to wear and tear.

APPLICATION OF ARTHROSCOPY ON THE ANKLE JOINT
